ROAD CONSTRUCTION
Roads and development of roads are amongst
infrastructural and essential factors of development in every country that must
be subject of close attention. Iran with area of 1648195 km2 and
extensive geographical dispersal is in need of kilometers of roads and highways.
The roads have been constructed due to the needs of the time mainly to connect
various points, cities, and villages. But, today priority of connecting two
points is assessed through volume of traffic demand and technical-economical
feasibility. 
If the initial plan meets required conditions, depending on volume and type of traffic, construction of the road in either form of minor road, main road, highway, or freeway would be put in order.

Saveh- Hamedan Freeway Goes on Stream
First lot of Saveh-Hamedan Freeway and also Arak Southern Beltway became operational in the presence of Mohammad–Reza Rahimi First Vice President and Behbahani Roads and Transportation Minister. In inauguration ceremony Dr. Rahimi said: “Enjoying quality road, railway and air transport networks as well as rail bridges play a very significant role in all-out development of the country.”
Taking advantage of appropriate road network system will ameliorate and facilitate communications coupled with boosting investment in various sectors, he mentioned.
Hamid Behbahani, the minister of road and transportation said:
“Allocation of suitable credits is effective on construction of safe and secure roads.”

Tehran-Shomal Highway; A Rout for Developing More
Construction of Tehran-Shomal highway which passes the beautiful mountain of Alborz could flourish the economy of the region beside touristic point of view.
Because of the vast coverage of Gilan and Mazandaran region this highway will have a considerable role in connecting the northern and southern areas of Iran via the routs which are lead to Tehran.
In addition to the high touristic potential of north of Iran and southern area of Caspian Sea, the connective roads of the region which are culminated in to the Persian Gulf, is also noticeable from economical and industrial point of view.
